Ventrilo voice communication

Like most guilds Shadow Wind offers VoIP communication to it's members. The most common used programs are TeamSpeak and Ventrilo. In our case we have a private Ventrilo server. Our server is available for guild members and for alliance raids.

Below is a short installation guide which explains how to install and configure the Ventrilo client.

Download and Installation

Download the Ventrilo 2.3.0 client from this page by clicking the download button next to Platform 'Windows i386 - 32bit' and Version '2.3.0'.

After you downloaded the installation file (ventrilo-2.3.0-Windows-i386.exe), execute the file to start the installation.

Follow the installation instructions, finish the installation and open the program which now has a shortcut on your desktop.

Configuring

After opening the program, you will have to do 3 things: add your username, add a the server and add a 'push to talk key' (so we won't hear you breathing all the time :P ).

The options to add a user or server can be found in the top. Click the arrow button right next to 'User Name' and 'Server' to do so. The hostname/IP of the server is 'vent.shadow-wind.org'. Just use the default portnumber '3784'. No password is necessary to login.

For changing the push to talk key, click setup and change the 'Hotkey' field. I am using LCONTROL myself (click the field and press your left control button). Also it is advised to deselect the option 'Play Key Click' option.
